About High Meadows

Campus & Facilities

Our kids come home exhausted, dirty, happy, and inspired. And it’s no wonder: our unique facilities and more than 40 acres of farm and woodland are extensions of our classrooms. There are a total of 16 buildings on campus—we utilize original structures that stood on the property before High Meadows existed as well as new facilities to meet instructional needs. We even have a red caboose which is used as the Middle Years director’s office.

We are mindful and respectful of the environment and children’s health when building and renovating facilities. Built in 2009, our Community Center demonstrates extremely high levels of environmental sensitivity, earning it Gold LEED certification.

The kids (and parents) love our outdoor education spaces which include the Johnson-Kemp Barn Theater, bird-feeding stations, compost bins, Lower Meadow, Upper Meadow, butterfly and insect pollinators, vegetable, herb, flower, and bog gardens, native plant landscapes, nature trails, picnic tables, benches, study sites, supplemental water sources for wildlife, a weather station, wildlife shelters, and a labyrinth.
