Plant seeds for the future of High Meadows through Planned Giving.

Planned/Legacy Giving is a major gift, made in lifetime or at death, as part of a donor’s overall financial and estate planning. These include gifts of cash, real estate, life insurance, or personal property, among others. Planned Giving represents the opportunity to provide long term financial support to High Meadows and gives donors the ability to establish a legacy.

The High Meadows Oak Society was established to recognize those who make significant donations to High Meadows through their Planned Giving. Membership in the Oak Society is granted through one or more of the following ways:

  • Outright Cash Gifts
  • Donation of Securities
  • Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD) from Individual Retirement Account (IRA) Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs)
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts and Gift Annuities
  • Charitable Lead Trusts Bequest in Testamentary Documents
  • IRA or Qualified Retirement Plan
  • Real Estate
  • Life Insurance

Benefits/Types of Planned Giving include the following:

  • Donors can make one-time contributions of appreciated property, receive a charitable deduction for the full market value of the asset, and pay no capital gains tax on the transfer.
  • Donors who establish a life-income gift receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the assets contributed, less the present value of the income interest retained. If they fund their gift with appreciated property, they pay no upfront capital gains tax on the transfer.
  • Gifts payable to charity upon the donor’s death, such as through a bequest or beneficiary designation, do not generate a lifetime income tax deduction for the donor, but they can generally avoid estate tax.

To discuss your Planned Giving, please contact our Development Office at (770) 993-2940 or development@highmeadows.org. We also encourage you to consult with your financial advisor, accountant, and/or attorney regarding the specifics of individual strategies and how they may benefit your specific situation.
