Our Spanish classroom is dynamic, where many different approaches to learning take place side by side. Students perform traditional tasks like verbal conjugations, but they also tell stories, enact role-plays and skits, play games, make presentations, enjoy culinary specialties from Spain and Latin America, and steep themselves in the geography, the history, and many varied cultural traditions of the Spanish-speaking world.

Students begin Spanish instruction in Preschool. Early Years students (with the exception of Second Grade) take Spanish once a week. Second Grade and Elementary Years students attend Spanish classes twice each week. And, in Middle Years, Spanish is considered a core class and is offered five times each week. Our Spanish program follows the National Spanish Standards.

Students graduate from High Meadows able to engage in conversations in Spanish. They also have a strong foundation that allows them to earn credit for a second-year Spanish program (Spanish II) in high school settings.
