Breaking New Ground for the Next 50 Years

What an incredible first 50 years High Meadows has had! Please join me in pausing for just a moment to celebrate the strength and beauty of our school and camp. Our meadows have witnessed decades of adventurous learning, bountiful play, countless pony and tire swing rides, and generations of families who have supported our growth and progress over the past half-century.
My own family has been part of this wonderful community for 10 of those 50 years. My son Frank graduated in 2022, and I have been a volunteer and now serve on the Board of Trustees. We look forward to being part of the adventures that the next 50 years will bring to High Meadows! 

Over the past few years, High Meadows has been busy investing in campus improvements that nourish the ongoing delivery of our mission and vision. If you haven’t been there lately, I hope you can visit campus soon to see all the improvements that have been and continue to be made! With a healthy enrollment and programmatic space needs, it has come time for us to build a new classroom building to house our Environmental Sustainability program and provide additional classroom space for our Middle Years program. We are thrilled to have broken ground on this project this fall with an anticipated completion date of late summer 2025. Take a look at the architect's rendering!


This new four-classroom building was designed using feedback from months of discussions with faculty, staff, architects, and engineers and is being constructed in an underutilized and low-impact area of campus near the detention pond created during the construction of the new barn. After our 2022 Permaculture Study highlighted this location as a high opportunity area for educational use, our Green Matters committee started imagining ways it might be used for our sustainability programming. Many schools are beginning to use detention pond spaces to study the wetland ecosystems they create, and we can’t wait to begin using this outdoor learning space in years to come as a new way for our students to connect with and learn about nature! 
Our new building is being funded entirely by donations to the 50th Anniversary Campaign. As a parent of an alumnus, I know how special this school is and see the impact it has had on my son. I happily pledge my time and money to ensure this school continues to thrive into the next 50 years. A gift to High Meadows truly makes an impact on this place and its community. Scott Shickler P’15 and I co-chair this campaign and have been working to raise funds for almost a year. As I write this, we have raised $2M and are so close to our goal of $2.3M! We need your help to get across the finish line. Construction of the building is underway, and it is projected to be completely ready for the fall 2025 school year. I hope you will join me in financially supporting this 50th anniversary gift for High Meadows.



Students are keeping tabs on the building's progress thanks to kid-level peep holes along the construction site fencing. It's exciting to see the space take shape--I hope to see you on campus soon to take a peek yourself!
