A band of middle schoolers took to the radio to perform some songs Monday afternoon, but the instruments they played weren’t what you’d normally expect: iPads.
Two of the students, who said they also play traditional instruments (flute and bass clarinet), talked about how they use the app GarageBand to play songs.
The school’s co-director of music, Patrick Wright, said they rehearse once a week. He added that the technology shouldn’t be considered a replacement to current music curriculum, but in “addition to.”
SoundTapp also recently performed on Atlanta & Company.
The WABE performance was captured on a Facebook live posted to WABE’s page. The students begin by playing a rendition of “Feliz Navidad,” and end with a cover of Tran-Siberian Orchestra’s version of “Carols of the Bells.”
