High Meadows School Partners with Local Organizations for Inaugural Youth Service Fair

Since 1973, High Meadows School students have made a difference in the world. Today, the school’s faculty and staff continue to emphasize a deep commitment to service learning. High Meadows leaders recently honored that spirit by hosting the inaugural Youth Service Fair, an event attended by local organizations with service opportunities geared toward youth. The event ran concurrently with the annual Early Years Festival, and more than 300 people visited campus on a crisp spring Saturday.
The Youth Service Fair allowed High Meadows School to strengthen relationships with community organizations, bringing together 12 local nonprofits – All About Cats, Chattahoochee Nature Center, Furkids, Keep Roswell Beautiful, Kids Care, Lasagna Love, My Green Earth, North Fulton Community Charities, Pebble Tossers, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Second Wind Dreams, and Smile Up – which provided materials or attended the fair.

Each organization offers structured volunteer opportunities that empower children to make a tangible impact. Whether it is helping animals with All About Cats or Furkids, baking lasagna with Lasagna Love for the individuals facing hardships, or caring for the natural environment alongside the Chattahoochee Nature Center, Keep Roswell Beautiful, or My Green Earth, there are countless ways for youth to serve.

"I really enjoying take care of the cats with All About Cats," said Cami, a High Meadows fourth grader and All About Cats volunteer. "I get to love on them, and they're all unique. It means a lot to give back to my community."

The Youth Service Fair was the vision of Laura McKie, director of enrollment and strategic community Engagement and Danielle Wright, director of equity and justice. "We were thrilled at the enthusiastic response to this event and believe it will grow and flourish in years to come. We hope that joining efforts with our community partners will help local youth feel inspired to get involved and give back,” Mrs. McKie said.

Beyond learning about service opportunities, attendees also participated in hands-on activities that directly benefited the community. Guests were invited to collect items for Never Alone’s food pantry, make dog toys for shelter animals, prepare sandwiches for individuals facing food insecurity, and write letters of encouragement to first responders. McKie hopes these efforts not only encourage the recipients but also bring joy to those giving their time.
