Professional Development Sparks a Deep Appreciation for Our Colleagues and Our Campus

Have you ever wondered what teachers do on Professional Development (PD) days when our students get an early dismissal and teachers get to work? Most of the time, professional development (PD) is for the purpose of collaborating with teacher peers, exploring new technology, enhancing skills, and staying updated on educational trends. Here at High Meadows, we set aside one PD day a year to focus on one more thing. We focus on outdoor education and celebrate the beauty of our campus with purpose. We also are able to honor the many talents of our own faculty and staff as they share their special skills by leading our professional development sessions.

For the third year in a row, we took an afternoon to share in acknowledging our very special campus and all it has to offer. Faculty and staff each selected two sessions of interest.from a list that included: Art & Nature, Hydroponics, Barnyard, Embryology, Hiking, Forest Bathing, Forest Mindfulness, and Fire Building. We topped off the afternoon with s’mores by the tipi. We all felt an overwhelming feeling of gratitude and a sense of awe and inspiration at how fortunate we are to be a part of High Meadows.
